March 14th Update
March 14th, 2020
Dear Clay Community Church,
Following up on our email yesterday, the SLT continues to pray and consider how to best shepherd and protect our church family during this season. While we will not be gathering in person this week, we recognize the importance of Christ’s people being able to pray together regularly. With that in mind, we have set up a tool that will allow us to connect together via conference call and encourage one another in the faith.
We plan to hold a phone-based prayer meeting tomorrow morning at 10am, during our regular service time. We’d invite all of CCC to dial in and pray along with us, even if you don’t feel comfortable praying aloud.
Sincere thanks go to Pete and Becky Auyer for suggesting the service we’ll be using to facilitate our prayer call.
In the mean time, here are some suggestions for how you can be praying individually:
- Ask God, in His mercy, to stop this pandemic and save lives—not only in our community, but around the world, particularly in places that are unequipped medically to deal with the virus. (Isaiah 59:1-2)
- Pray for our President, and for other officials —international, federal, state, and local—to have the wisdom to direct us in the best courses of action for prevention and care. (Romans 13:1–4)
- The Psalmist writes, “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” Pray that the Lord will give us wisdom and peace in this moment, that others would realize how fragile life is and how real eternity is, and that they would see their need to turn to God. (Psalm 90:12)
- Ask the Lord to protect His people around the globe, and use this global pandemic to advance the Gospel of Jesus to the whole world. (Mark 16:15)
Don’t forget that we also plan to post a sermon on our website (claycommunity.org/sermons), most likely on Sunday afternoon. We’ll be sure to send an email out with a direct link once it’s available online.
If you have any questions, or if there is any other way we can serve you, please don’t hesitate to let one of us know.
