June 5th Update
June 5, 2020
Hello Clay Church Family!
Since we first suspended our gathered worship services in March, the question we've been asked most often is "When will we get back together for worship?" Today we're happy to share that we've been working on plans to gather once again in our facility, tentatively beginning on Sunday, July 5th.
Based on our conversations with you all, we suspect that for many this will be a welcome and encouraging bit of news! For others, we recognize there may be questions, and perhaps even hesitation, about coming back together. We can certainly empathize with both reactions.
We want to assure you that we're working hard, along with the Trustees, to evaluate all of the aspects of our gathered worship services and to ultimately discern what is both wise and prudent for our body, as well as faithful to the Lord. In this season, our goal is to craft plans which will serve the greatest number of our members, while also remaining flexible to support those who may need other options.
With that in mind, it's obvious that our services will need to look a little different when we start gathering. For those attending in person, we'll be making use of the common practices we've all seen in our community, including the use of physical distancing, face masks, and hand sanitizer. For those who are not yet able to join us in person, we will be continuing to livestream our services for the duration of the pandemic. And, of course, we will all be able to continue connecting via Zoom during the week. Specific details on all of these logistics will be shared both via email and video as we get closer to our target date.
We do want to note that we have sought to be mindful of federal, state, and local guidelines throughout this season. This is not always an easy task. Each level of government has unique guidelines for churches, and these guidelines are at times contradictory. In fact, this is part of the reason why July 5th is our tentative target date. While some area churches have already opened their facilities, we are opting to wait out of an abundance of caution. We feel the need to see how things continue to take shape at the state and local levels, both in regard to the guidelines for churches, and the spread of the virus itself.
Until we are able to gather in person, and as long as the weather remains cooperative, we will joyfully continue with our parking-lot services. If for some reason we need to alter that plan for a week, we'll let you know.
While it's still at a month away, we're exited to be getting ready to resume gathered worship. We hope you are as well! There will be more details to be shared in the weeks to come; however, if you have specific concerns that you'd like the SLT to know about, we'd love to hear from you. Please do continue in prayer for CCC as a whole. Thank you, Brothers and Sisters!
Blessings In Christ,
Brandon, Chris, Len, and Pat
