April 27th Update
April 27, 2020
We're writing to share a brief update on our plans going forward as a church family in this season of life.
As you can imagine, the SLT continues to monitor the guidance of our local, state, and federal officials. Governor Cuomo's NYS PAUSE order has been extended through at least May 15th, and in a press conference today, the Governor stated that he plans to extend that order beyond May 15th in many regions of the state. It is not yet clear if Central New York will be part of that extension.
The Governor has also begun outlining what it may look like to begin reopening once the PAUSE order is lifted. His plan is comprised of multiple phases, separated by two-week intervals, and will begin with manufacturing and construction businesses. Every few weeks additional businesses and industries will be evaluated to see if they may be approved to reopen.
So far, the reopening plans have not included any clear guidance for churches. Our call to Albany today to seek clarity was unfruitful. Churches are not a business, but by definition a church is a larger gathering of people, which the state still wants to avoid. It appears unlikely that churches will be encouraged to resume meeting together during the initial phases of the Governor's plan.
We are all chomping at the bit to come together again! Unfortunately, we're still unsure how long it will be until we can do so safely, or what things might look different in our gatherings due to social distancing requirements. With these concerns in mind, we are continuing the suspension of all CCC services until further notice.
We've been separated from one another for some time. The end isn't quite in view yet, but we know it is coming! We continue to press on, united in Christ, and looking forward with hope and anticipation to the day the Lord allows us to come back together! Until that day, we'll continue streaming our sermons on YouTube Live, and connecting on Zoom for prayer and small groups each week.
Obviously we will continue monitoring developments, and as soon as we determine it is safe and right to gather again, we'll let you know. In the meantime, please be in prayer for the leaders serving the church, and for the needs of our whole church family!
Blessings In Christ,
Brandon, Chris, Len, and Pat
